Image
Chitradurga  My  road trip to Goa started with great excitement.  Lucky enough,  to venture out in January ,before I knew what COVID was.   All  these years of my life,  I never felt the urge to visit Goa. Although I  had heard about its own charmness and beauty.  But somehow could not resist when an opportunity came my way . It was early morning,  we started with two friends  and family  from Chennai.  The drive from Chennai to Bangalore was quite smooth as the highway is one of the best.  In about five hours  we reached Bangalore, skipped the city took an outer road  and  by evening halted at a remote city called Chitradurga.  In fact,  it was a town unheard of..but then after a bit of exploration we knew of its historical significance.  THE FORT The next day we decided to visit the fort,  at Chitradurga...and then continue the journey to Goa. We had a fantastic breakfast at a...

THE  FAIRYLAND CASTLE BURG -ELTZ GERMANY I happened to visit this majestic structure last year. Indeed! a fairy land Castle, of the medieval  times . Located in Wierschem,Germany. It has a  Romanesque architectural  style. Build along the route that linked the Moselle river - historically  important trade route in the German Empire. It is owned by a branch of the same family that lived  in the 12th  century, almost 33 generations  ago. It has 100 rooms and today almost 800 families live there.  It is built on a rock that housed many noble families, and now owned by  the community of heirs. The castle is open for the public, and reaching there isn't difficult. A bus, train or cab can get you there from Cologne or Frankfurt. The travel takes around 2 hours.once you are there, Get ready to visit the marvellous view.  Now for the real sight, you have to either to take a shuttle bus  which takes you up to the g...

A QUIET WEEKEND AT PONDICHERRY

Image
Pondicherry is one of the best weekend getaway places, especially when you are visiting south India. It has  some nice beaches to relax and cafes to treat yourself. I decided to take the trip and explore the city. From Chennai the trip took me two and a half hours  to reach  the main city. I had heard of the "AUROVILLE" and wanted to visit it.Auroville also known as the "SOUL OF THE CITY". The soul of the city has a magnificent lotus shaped temple called the  "MATRIMANDIR". The matrimandir was initiated by the Mother  Sri Aurobindo Ashram. The foundation stone was laid on 17th November 1973. Architect Roger Anger gave the shape of a lotus in full bloom representing divine consciousness. Initially  an urn  containing soils of 121 countries and 23 Indian  states  was placed at the inner chamber of the temple.  This signified harmony and peace amongst  people of different countries. There is no particular religion to be fo...

ROCKS ON THE SEA VIVEKANANDA ROCK MEMORIAL

Image
Sunrise#vivekananda Rock Memorial#tourist spot#kanyakumari#south India.  The Vivekananda  Rock Memorial has one of the best  scenic views during the morning hours. The calmness of a morning is suddenly  surged with a crowd to have the first glimpse of the Rock Memorial  with the perfect rising sun  in the background.  You probably can't  miss this out if you are in Kanyakumari,  situated in the southern  most tip of India . Built in 1970 ,amid  after a lot of controversies by  the fishing  men.   The most appealing thing about the monument is  that it is not on land. It has been built  about  half a kilometre  in the sea.  You need to  take a boat to visit  it. Not forgetting,  that it was built in memory  of Swami  VIvekananda,  who attained enlightment  at this very rock.  Here the Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal  seas me...
