MUDRAS FOR A SPIRITUAL AND HEALTHY LIVING
GYAN MUDRA
This is an article on Mudras. Mudras are the certain position of fingers which when practised properly and regularly benefits the health of the overall body.These mudras can be practised with great ease at home or anywhere.
The first mudra is the GYAN MUDRA - Mudra of knowledge.
In this, you have to place the tip of the index finger on the tip of the thumb. The other fingers remain straight.
This Mudra enhances knowledge and improves the endocrine and the pituitary gland. It also helps in meditation
This can be practised any time, standing or sitting.
PRITHVI MUDRA
In this mudra, the tip of the ring finger touches the tip of the thumb, while all other fingers remain straight.It strengthens the physical and spiritual weaknesses and increases the life force.
It can be practised any time of the day. This spiritual practice recommended in a quiet setting, especially while meditating.
Should be practised at least for 40 - 45minutes in a day. Focus on breath while doing this mudra.
VARUNA MUDRA
In this mudra, the tip of the pinky finger touches the thumb, while the other fingers remain straight.It helps to balance emotions and helps to retain water. It also helps relieve constipation and cramps. Helps in regulating hormonal imbalances.
Practice for 15minutes three times a day.
VAYU MUDRA
Here the thumb wraps over the index finger, while the rest of the fingers remain straight.Vayu mudra helps calm an anxious mind, soothes a strained voice and helps in destressing.
SHUNYA MUDRA.
Here the tip of the thumb presses the middle finger down, while the rest fingers remain straight up.
Practising this mudra makes the body active and is effective for earaches. Practice for about 30 minutes every day.
SURYA MUDRA
The Surya mudra is the sum mudra, this mudra stimulates the thyroid gland, helps in losing weight.
Bend the ring finger, under the thumb. The other fingers to remain straight.
This help in digestion. Practise this mudra for at least 10 minutes twice in a day.
APANA MUDRA
The Apana mudra is the mudra of digestion.
In this mudra, the middle and the ring finger are bent under the thumb, while the pinky and index finger stand straight up.
This mudra helps the excretory system.
Practice for at least 30 minutes every day.
APANA VAYU MUDRA
This mudra is also known as the mudra of the heart.
In this mudra, the index finger bends to touch the base of the thumb while the middle finger and the ring finger touch the tip of the thumb. The pinky finger is stretched out. It stimulates the healing of the heart and protects it. Also reduces gas and heartburn.
PRANYA MUDRA
The Prana mudra is the mudra of life. In this ,mudra the pinky finger and the ring finger bend to meet the thumb, while the middle finger and index finger
Stand straight up.
By practising this mudra regularly, improves the life force, strengthens the mind and the body. Enhances the vision too. Should be practised every day.
